More women today are finding that it's easier to rocket to the top of an Internet start-up than to climb the corporate ladder at more-traditional firms.

Last year, women held 45 percent of the top management posts at Internet companies financed by venture-capital firms. Here's a sampling of some of the leading women now making a name for themselves on the Web:
