Dinner bell tolls

February 2, 2000

Sixty-nine percent of American families eat together at least five times a week, according to a Kraft Foods survey. But respondents saw areas for improvement:

*More time is spent preparing the meal than eating together.

*Many admitted that meals aren't planned ahead of time.

*Ninety-four percent of dinner menus are dictated by the kids.

*More than 50 percent of families would like to spend more time eating together.
