Manna

June 4, 1999

On Tuesday, we half expected

our neighbors to be out

shoveling. Their apple tree

was turning June to winter -

flurry, whiteout.

Yesterday, in the morning sun,

we were garnished

with the tiny petals

of the cherry blossoms -

lawn-chair blushing.

And tonight,

the rain broke loose,

scattering the lake

with interlocking hoops -

umbrella ocean.

Nature has been falling down

all week,

so generously.
