Moon Set

The moon, near morning,

swollen with horizon,

slides down

between cloud walls -

reappears,

disappears,

emerges twice,

then winks

itself away,

leaving this

changeling time

before the sun -

insufficient dark

for night,

and yet too bright

for stars.
