We Must Be in the Path Of the Tumbleweeds

March 4, 1996

I steal what you say,

that they graze

in this direction

to end up back

in our tumbleweed

corral

where they plant their young

that grow up green

as any weed we pull

when we are being

lords of the land.

There's something

wild

about them

that we need,

now that we

have the fence

and they cannot get away.
