Birds of Snow

November 21, 1995

Snowflakes are the proud young doves

we cannot count, or catch,

crowding the air,

drifting from cloud-nests

to fulfill dreams of white.

Snowflakes are time's ripe swans,

all sailing into an anchored peace.

Flocks of snow at our feet

want to flurry us off

on their white, wintered plumage.
