Parents in poetry. Album

April 5, 1988

I.The Shaving Brush Today I, son of Morton D'Evelyn, retire the brush inherited from him - lank, wispy stub - for a new one

- full, fresh, trim - my son bought me at Crabtree & Evelyn.

II.Night Piece

Before bed, I check him:

pale head on paler pillow. All's well. Starlight spills

from the window, the night breeze lifts a forelock.

Vanity of fathers! My son, flesh of dreams,

light of ancient stars.
