The music conservatory

August 3, 1984

A piano in every spacious room And peonies, in spring; Pianos and peonies through the house -

And roses, in the mansion where

Scent and sound were everything.

Beethoven, Brahms, and Bartok flowered,

And Chopin blossomed, in the spring,

Along with lilies-of-the-valley -

Prokofiev was bittersweet

And Bach was evergreen. Flowers and love and music,

The best-remembered things -

Rose-scent and rose-tone blending,

And all the pianos blooming

With June roses on their wings.
