Election results in tomorrow's Monitor

November 5, 1980

Stories analyzing the outcome of the US presidential election will be published in editions of The Christian Science Monitor dated Thursday, Nov. 6. The Monitor, readers may be aware, is distributed in a number of American cities coast to coast on the date of publication. however, this widespread circulation pattern makes it impossible to include coverage of stories which take place the evening before the date on the paper.

Overnight delivery to many US cities is achieved in several ways:

* By printing the paper in four states -- Massachusetts, New jersey, Illinois , and California.

* By using air freight for distribution to several metropolitan areas.

* By requiring a press start no later than 6 p.m. for all editions.

These steps help the Monitor reach 71 percent of its readers through the mails on the date of publication.
