At Doha conference, moments of silence for Gaza – but humor, too

Reporters on the Job: The conference of young, progressive Muslim leaders in Doha, Qatar, was stopped twice for moments of silence over Gaza.

But despite the many serious topics, and open tears about Gaza, humor had its place, too.

When one speaker used the word “random,” somebody shouted a response that everyone in the Muslim audience understood.

In a jibe at airport security officials who claim they do not specifically target Muslims for extra checks, he quipped, “Random, like in the airport?”
