Where Was I?

A poem.

February 11, 2008

Where Was I? 'When beggars die there are no comets seen.' ('Julius Caesar,' Shakespeare) Where was I? Probably reading a mystery, watching TV,
at the theater, a meeting.
In a society where herdsmen, sailors, and landsmen are the rule
comets may announce – or stars – events we,
inside, intent on pages or screens, watching the "news"
will never see.
