Plant ties

June 30, 2008

While there are commercial twister ties sold to secure flowers and vegetables to a support, you can easily make your own with whatever's available around the house – any soft material that readily bends. Old pantyhose are good for tying up tomatoes. When you don't want the ties to be quite so obvious, raid the kids' art box for pipe cleaners. They're fuzzy, unobtrusive (especially in green and black), and won't harm tender plants.
