Honda reaches settlement with striking Chinese car parts workers

Honda said on Friday it has reached a settlement with striking Chinese car parts workers and production at its four car assembly factories would resume immediately.

Honda Motor Co. said on Friday it had reached a settlement with workers demanding more concessions at a strike-hit Chinese car parts plant, and that production would also return to normal at its four car assembly factories immediately.

Honda spokeswoman Akemi Ando said the undisclosed number of holdouts at the 1,900-strong parts factory agreed to the company's original offer to raise monthly starting salary by 366 yuan for regular workers, and "other concessions" after compromises on both sides.

"We've reached a conclusion, and production will go back to normal," she said.
