Should the Electoral College reflect the popular vote?

Massachusetts is set to become the sixth state to award its electors to the winner of the popular vote nationally.

Ever since George W. Bush was elected president in 2000 despite having lost the popular vote to Al Gore, momentum has been building to do away with the Electoral College.

This week, Massachusetts joined Illinois, New Jersey, Hawaii, Maryland, and Washington, when it passed legislation to award its Electoral College votes to the presidential candidate who earned the most votes nationally.

Supporters say the move would ensure that every person's vote is counted equally. Opponents say it undermines the Founder's intentions and would bias candidates against smaller states.
