Panda Express is offering a coupon for a free serving of its newest dish: Kobari beef.

No purchase is necessary, but the coupon is only good Wednesday, Sept. 29, and only at participating locations while supplies last. Panda Express has about 1,300 stores in 38 states, and most are open till 9pm or 10pm local time.

Worried about that "participating locations" caveat? Spokeswoman Thien Ho says not to worry: most stores are participating, but not those at "special event venues" like amusement parks and stadiums.

Based in the Los Angeles area, the 27-year-old chain reached $1 billion in sales in 2007, making it by far the largest Chinese-food chain in the United States.
