An American Heroine in the French Resistance: The Diary and Memoir of Virginia d’Albert-Lake, edited by historian Judy Barrett Litoff, is a fascinating account of the life of an American heroine in France who helped downed American pilots to freedom. She eventually is caught and lives through the experience of being in a Nazi concentration camp. I couldn’t put it down!
