Reader recommendation: Sea of Poppies

I’ve just finished reading Sea of Poppies by Amitav Ghosh, the first book of a trilogy. Ghosh is an excellent writer and puts together an unlikely grouping of characters on a ship that sails down the Ganges to Calcutta, then out to sea toward Mauritius. It takes place around 1838. A fascinating book – I can’t wait for the next one!
