I'm now reading The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks by Rebecca Skloot. I'm loving her personable voice and her compassion for Henrietta Lacks. She does well explaining the science behind cell lines without burdening the reader with technical details. It's a fast read, too, so it would make a great summer book for you and and a good one to share with your kids.
