Letters to Jackie

I recently started reading Letters to Jackie: Condolences from a Grieving Nation by Ellen Fitzpatrick. It reprints some of the 1.5 million letters Jackie Kennedy received from ordinary Americans expressing their grief following the assassination of JFK. Perhaps more fascinating than the letters themselves are the short biographies of each letter writer at the end of the book. The diverse lives of the letter writers shows what a blow the assassination had on Americans from all walks of life.
