The Book of Negroes by Lawrence Hill is a revealing historical novel. The author leads us, through the eyes of the main character, from Africa to the Southern American colonies, to New York, to broken promises in Nova Scotia, and back to Africa. The journey is full of hope and despair, and requires great strength.
