You don’t have to live in New England to appreciate Big House, Little House, Back House, Barn, by Thomas C. Hubka. This architectural study of 19th-century New Englanders and the connection between their homes deals with a subject close to my heart. Every time I drive by an old house in my suburban Boston town, I wonder about its history, its original settlers, and marvel that these homes still stand as reminders of our heritage.
