The Coldest Winter by the late David Halberstam offers striking portraits of the principal players – Truman, MacArthur, Mao, Kim – during Korea, the “Forgotten War.” It’s a fine book and all the more enjoyable because it is nestled in my new 9.7-inch Kindle.
