The Federalist Papers

March 23, 2009

I’ve been enlightened by reading for the first time The Federalist Papers. These 80+ essays were written over 200 years ago by some of our nation’s founding fathers to persuade New Yorkers to support a new Constitution based on the principals of federation.  In these modern times of hyper-globalization and catastrophic national security threats like terrorism, pandemics, climate change, and economic instability, their writings now provide the clearest rational for creating a world federation. The current confederation of the world’s nations can no longer rely on diplomacy, treaties, sanctions or war for resolving differences.  Reading them in the context of today, maximizing individual freedoms, prosperity and security will require a federal world government.
