The Worst Hard Time

February 2, 2009

I just finished The Worst Hard Time, a nonfiction recounting of the history of the American Dust Bowl, by Timothy Egan. It is so well written and engaging that I couldn’t put it down. This is a story of public policy and private enterprise acting in ignorance of the dynamics of a landscape and without a care for the future. The coincidence of the Depression only makes the story more heartbreaking.
