Italy's Sorrow

Italy's Sorrow: A Year of War, 1944-1945 is the well-researched, well-written story of the last year of World War II in Italy. Italy was divided into an Allied-occupied south and a German-occupied north and was rent by a civil war between Fascists and anti-Fascists. Civilians tried simply to avoid the crossfires and stay alive. James Holland paints a panoramic picture of Italy's sorrow.
