'Tree Poets'

April 13, 2006

I love the way
poetic trees
publish their
green poems
of leaves.
Issued in spring
to be read by summer,
they sing green songs
to every comer.
When September
turns them duller,
fall then adds
her rhymes of color.
A wanton wind
flies into town,
reads all poems
then flings them down
in graceful beauty
to the earth
where they await
reprint, rebirth.
