The owner of the sheltie
is oblivious to the frenzy
unfolding behind her
as she brushes her dog
in the rest stop parking lot.
Thrifty small sparrows
pluck up the preowned fluff
that wafts onto their turf,
hurrying before the wind
wastes the silky treasure.
