Wilting at the sight of your electric bill as summer sizzles? Check out overall utility costs worldwide.
Average annual utility costs in a typical US city are lower than in many cities abroad, according to Runzheimer International, a Wisconsin-based management consulting firm. Its study compared costs for a three-bedroom house based on the energy source (oil, gas, electricity) most commonly used in a given city. For the US, it averaged the costs for 300 urban areas nationwide.
