Rush hour in America has become a six-hour slog.
According to a new study by the Texas Transportation Institute (TTI), the once three-hour time frame (morning and evening combined) has doubled in major US cities since 1982.
The problem is most severe in Southern and Western cities, which aren't equipped with large mass-transit commuter systems. TTI says the average commuter experiences 36 hours of delay (sitting in slow moving traffic) each year.
