Where real estate prices are highest, lowest

Buying a four-bedroom house in the United States requires a large chunk of change. But the biggest price factor remains the land underneath.

A study of US home prices by Runzheimer International, a Wisconsin-based management-consulting firm, found that the price of a 2,200 square-foot house can vary widely from town to town.

The average cost for this home in middle-class communities in America: $208,900.
