Going once, twice ... gone!

April 19, 2000

With millions of products for sale on Internet auction sites, it's hard for buyers and sellers to keep items that have been recalled out of circulation.

The US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) is working to change that. In a joint effort with the popular sites eBay and Amazon.com auctions, the CPSC is providing information about recalled products. Both sites have links to the CPSC Web site, and encourage sellers to check the recall status of their offerings.

Consumers can determine if any product has been recalled or banned by accessing CPSC's Web site at www.cpsc.gov or call CPSC's hot line at (800) 638-2772.
