The art of the everyday

Monitor photographer John Nordell stopped in his tracks when he saw this scene in Boston's North Station subway stop. 'The colors and shapes create an interesting tableau,' he says. But what really caught his eye were the 'windows' of light, which lent elegance to the gritty surroundings.
