Barnacle surf and turf

February 23, 2000

Jesus Lema Calvo braves crashing surf while harvesting goose barnacles on the Sisargas Islands in the Costa de la Muerte off northwestern Spain.

After waiting for low tide and receding waves, fishermen have only seconds to cut the shellfish from the rocks before being pummeled by the waves.
