Midwest Express airline resumed its regular flight schedule over the weekend after reaching an agreement with its pilots to avert a strike. The deal, after 18 months of negotiations, is the first labor contract between the carrier and the Air Line Pilots Association. While exact terms were not disclosed, the deal reportedly gives Midwest's 330 pilots higher pay as well as improved retirement and health benefits. The union had claimed that salaries of its Midwest Express members were about 33 percent below what their peers earned at other airlines. Midwest Express serves 31 cities with about 130 flights a day.
