In a story on the safest US cities, Jan. 7, information in a chart on page 8 was incorrect. Boston has 2,247 police officers, for an officer-to-resident ratio of 1:247.
The story on Asian markets, Jan. 10, should have said that stock indices closed higher in Singapore, Thailand, and Manila on Jan. 10. Tokyo's stock market was closed, due to a national holiday.
