Nature caught for an instant

THE NATIONAL AUDUBON SOCIETY SPEAKING FOR NATURE Edited by Les Line Hugh Lauter Levin Assoc.

Imagine being in the right place at the right time to photograph a magnificent bull elk wading in a Yellowstone National Park river, and having the photographic savvy to use a slow shutter speed to blur the rushing waters adding extra life and vibrancy to the photograph. In this book, not only are the photographs of mammals and birds, mountains and meadows, breathtakingly beautiful, but most are technically flawless. For a century, the men and women of the Audubon Society have fought the good fight to save and restore wilderness and its inhabitants. With stunning photos and stirring text, the Society documents, decade by decade, its challenges and triumphs. The photos range from cute (black bear triplets on a white pine) to dramatic (a bald eagle pulling a salmon from a river), to ethereal (glacial icebergs at low tide).
