Marriage makes men happier

December 8, 1999

Married men are happier than bachelors. So says Steven L. Nock, a University of Virginia sociology professor in a new book. Published by the Oxford University Press, "Marriage in Men's Lives" is based on yearly interviews with 6,000 men over the past 20 years. From the interviews, Nock concluded that married men are more successful, generous, and concerned about others than their bachelor counterparts. According to the study, they are also more mature and productive.
