Dominique (right) nuzzles her two-day-old colt, Jessie, at the Donkeys' Sanctuary on the Caribbean island of Bonaire. Dominique was starving when she was rescued by Marina and Ed Melis, who began and operate the facility to help the 600 or so wild donkeys that live on the island.
