Satellite protection

September 8, 1999

It took two grandfathers to figure out that if satellite tracking can find missing cars, it can be used to locate missing children. Dan Booker and Bill Brown have invented SatCel, a device that emits signals to a central tracking center. It's the size of a cell phone and can be be hidden in a child's backpack, but the inventors say a much smaller version is in the works. They plan to make the device available to families for free. However, customers will be charged about $108 a year for service. For information call: 800-557-2842.
