prices at the pump

according to last week's report by the American Petroleum Institute in Washington, the price of crude oil has risen to $20.15 a barrel - its highest level since Nov. 19, 1997.

The prices charged at American gas pumps are rising as a result, last week's being the highest so far this year. This chart reflects the national average price of a gallon of unleaded gasoline, as reported by the US Department of Energy.
