Make a simple training aid

March 23, 1999

First, you need a cat-training tool. Take an ordinary tablespoon, and tape it to a wooden stick (a dowel or paint-stirrer works fine). Use strong tape.

Now attach a clicker to the stick. (Friskies will send you a clicker and a training brochure for $1.98 and two UPC symbols. See Friskies dry cat food packages for details.)

Scoop a little of your cat's favorite moist food onto the spoon, and commence training. (See tricks on next page.) Keep sessions short at first - no more than five or 10 minutes. Never yell at or punish your cat. You'll hurt its feelings, and it will just run away and sulk.
