Merry wives of Tuscany

February 17, 1999

Looking for Mr. Right? If you lived in Italy, you'd be waiting for your "principe azzuro" (blue prince) - and you may have reason to care about his occupation-of-choice.

A recent poll taken by Radio Montecarlo of Italy and Monaco, suggests that a bride-to-be can assess how content she will be in marriage, based on her betrothed's job.

A survey of 1,500 Italian women showed that "95 percent of those married to bricklayers were not inclined to any form of extra-marital dalliance"; 79 percent of architects' wives said they were contentedly faithful.

Attention apparently matters.

Who felt most neglected? The wives of long-working doctors and financial managers.
