`Power Rangers good role models

January 19, 1995

After reading the article `` `Morphing' Karate Teens Provoke Parental Parry of Television Violence,'' Nov. 16, I was appalled to learn that ``The Mighty Morphin Power Rangers'' is being banned by several countries because of its violence.

``The Mighty Morphin Power Rangers'' is a wonderful show for kids to watch. There are other shows for children on TV that are much more violent such as ``Batman'' and ``G.I. Joe.''

Children learn social values from this show. Some of the past shows have covered topics such as drugs and alcohol. Not only does the show cover the topics well, but one of the rangers always reinstates the lesson learned at the end of each show. I hope these people realize that they should be banning shows like ``Cops'' and ``NYPD Blue.'' Melody Wilde, Wichita Falls, Texas
