* THE CLIENT - (PG-13, Warner Home Video). This film version of a John Grisham novel starts off briskly and builds excitement throughout. After becoming sole witness to the drunken confession and suicide of a mob lawyer, 11-year-old Mark Sway (Brad Renfro) realizes he has fallen into a deadly adventure. Distrusting the authorities and fearing the mobsters who begin to pursue him, he finds the help of Reggie (Susan Sarandon), a well-meaning but inexperienced lawyer. Renfro delivers a strong performance as the intelligent youngster; veterans Sarandon and Tommy Lee Jones, who plays a hard-hitting prosecutor, expertly smooth over the occasional glitches in the movie's plot.
