Dole plays coy on presidency

October 6, 1994

* If Sen. Robert Dole decides to run for president and hold on to his position as Republican leader in the Senate, he doesn't think fellow Republican senators would, as a group, object.

``I assume there are one or two that are probably interesting in [having me] disappear,'' the Kansas Republican commented in a Monitor breakfast yesterday.

Dole was even modest about predicting that he would be reelected as GOP leader, though there's little indication that his colleagues would not reelect him. ``Well, you're never certain in this business. It's a pretty tough precinct,'' he said.
