LONGER HOURS ON THE JOB DO NOT NET WOMEN A PROMOTION, STUDY SAYS

The harder you work and the more hours you put in at the office, the more likely you are to climb the ranks of management, logic suggests.

Not if you are a woman, according to a recent study by researchers at Temple University in Philadephia and the Universite de Montreal.

One thousand mid-level managers in two large corporations, one American the other Canadian were surveyed. While men who worked longer hours - and put in less time on housework - attained higher managerial ranks, the same did not hold true for women.
