INFLATION JUMPED IN DEVELOPING NATIONS

* Annual rates of consumer price inflation in developing countries increased to 52 percent in the first quarter of 1993, compared with 47.6 percent a year earlier, according to the International Monetary Fund.

The sharpest rises occurred in Latin America and the Caribbean, which increased to an average of 175.8 percent, compared with 120.4 percent the year before. The Middle East had the most significant drop, to an average of 10.5 percent from 17.1 percent the previous year.
