OLDER ADULTS CONCERNED ABOUT SAVINGS

July 20, 1993

More than half of American adults are concerned that they will outlive their retirement funds, a poll by the Gallup Organization finds. The nationwide poll reveals that 58 percent of adults are "very or somewhat concerned" that they have not provided sufficiently for their retirement. In a 1989 poll, 43 percent of adults reported a similar worry.

Gallup reports an increased concern among all age groups, but notes that older Americans - those 55 and older - are much more concerned about their savings than four years ago.
