MORE FIRMS VALUE COMPUTER SKILLS

* Computer literacy requirements for all job levels in today's organizations have increased over the past three years, according to a survey of 1,481 management information systems executives by the Olsten Corporation.

Currently, 71 percent of firms require computer literacy among their managers, up from 36 percent three years ago. The number also jumped for secretaries, from 74 to 91 percent. However, many firms do not offer continuous training opportunities for workers, the survey says.
