MAJORITY OF AMERICANS WANT THEIR OWN BUSINESS

July 30, 1992

Forty-two percent of Americans would like to own their own business, according to a recent Gallup survey. An additional ten percent already do.

According to the survey commissioned by The Kessler Exchange, a national small-business research and membership organization, males are more likely to want to be their own boss than females: 46 percent of males compared to 37 percent of females.

But when it comes to acting on this business desire women are taking the lead. According to the United States Small Business Administration, women are opening businesses at twice the rate of men.
